Im Jahre 1903 entdeckten die beiden franz\u00f6sischen Forscher Pierre Paris und Arthur Engel den Verteidigungswall der iberischen Siedlung Urso, letzte Bastion der Pompejaner in ihrem Kampf gegen die Truppen Julius C\u00e4sars. Nachtr\u00e4glich wurde das Areal im Jahre 1973 mit einer neuen Technologie von Ram\u00f3n Corzo untersucht. Die beiden Mauerfunde befinden sich heute im Camino de San Jos\u00e9. Das Verteidigungssystem umschloss die primitive Siedlung nicht vollst\u00e4ndig, sondern war in Abschnitten angelegt, um lediglich die leicht zug\u00e4nglichen Bereiche auf nat\u00fcrliche Art zu sch\u00fctzen. Lange Zeit wurden diese Bauten auf das 1. Jahrhundert v. C. datiert. Neueren Studien zufolge sind die Schutzw\u00e4lle jedoch weitaus \u00e4lter. Bei einer Ausgrabung wurde eine 95 Meter lange Mauer entdeckt, die durch vier halbrunde T\u00fcrme verst\u00e4rkt war. Die T\u00fcrme waren abgeschr\u00e4gt und folgten der Neigung des Untergrunds, auf dem sie erbaut wurden. So entstand eine nach Osten gerichtete Kurve. In den Mauern des Schutzwalls wurden die ber\u00fchmten Reliefs von Osuna gefunden, die erst im Louvre und jetzt im Nationalen Arch\u00e4ologiemuseum in Madrid ausgestellt sind.<\/p>\n

Nach beiden Forschungsprojekten wurden die Funde fast vollst\u00e4ndig wieder vergraben. Stellenweise kann man jedoch Teile der Reste erkennen, die eine Vorstellung \u00fcber das imposante Mauerwerk geben.<\/p>\n
