Remains of the Forum of the Genitiva Lulia Colony
Although there is no study that definitively confirms this, most specialists agree that the forum of the ancient colony was located in the area where the largest number of finds have been made Roman archaeological sites, notably the so-called Bronces de Osuna, at the junction of the roads to Granada, Farfana and San José, not far from where the theatre was built and where it is presumed that religious and civil buildings must have been erected, following the Roman urban model that monumentally highlighted the centre of cities. In this setting, some traces of that past grandeur can be seen. Remains of walls at the foot of the Farfana Road or the water reservoir popularly known as ‘La Pileta’ remain exposed, as silent witnesses to what was once the great ceremonial and civic space of the ancient Roman city.
