Quarries of Osuna<\/h1>\n

The former quarries are lands of the former Urso from where workers extracted the stone used for constructions before the Roman occupation. It is known as \u201cThe Petra of Andalusia\u201d because of its reliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Surely this rocky substrate has been used as a stone quarry continuously at least since Turdetan times, it seems that its operation would have been intensified following the important constructive works of the IV Count of Ure\u00f1a in the 16<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> century until the 60\u00b4s decade of the 20<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> century when it stops working.<\/span>It was built by mid 17<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> century and it was the side where the \u201cVia Crucis\u201d ended. Following the model of the Necropolis, the remains of some tombs carved into the rock stand close to the quarries, like a chapel. <\/span><\/p>\n

Inside, this construction has a magnificent natural auditorium used for celebrations, concerts, cultural events, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n
