Quarries of Osuna<\/span><\/h1>\n

Land belonging to the ancient Urso, where stone was quarried for construction purposes since before the Roman occupation. It is known as \u2018La Petra de Andaluc\u00eda\u2019 (the stone of Andalusia) due to its spectacular stone reliefs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This rocky substrate has undoubtedly been used as a stone quarry continuously since at least the Turdetani period, although it seems that its exploitation must have intensified as a result of the important construction work carried out by the 4th Count of Ure\u00f1a in the 16th century, until the 1960s, when work there ceased.<\/p>\n

On the very edge of a precipice carved out by stonecutters, there are ruins of what was, until the last century, the Hermitage of the Via Sacra. It was built in the mid-17th century and was the final stop on the Way of the Cross.<\/p>\n

Next to it, like a chapel, are the remains of tombs carved into the rock, following the model of the Necropolis.<\/p>\n

El Coto Las Canteras has hosted numerous events of various kinds in its natural auditorium: television and music video shoots, fashion shows, concerts, recitals, charity galas and cultural talks.<\/p>\n
