Singular Buildings

CASINO OF OSUNA

The so-called Casino (social club) has been open for more than 160 years and at present it remains open to the public. In this social club, people can rest and have breakfast or some “tapas” for lunch and dinner.

This building opened its doors in 1848. Later, it was extended and behind it was the theatre, which is in process of being renovated, currently property of the Town Council.

This building has a typical colonial aspect with a central square courtyard composed of some columns. It has baseboards with tiles and a fan hanging of the courtyard axis over a round table which transform it into a sitting room.

Currently, it is a place where people can enjoy the calm and the peaceful atmosphere it transmits. The building is comprised of marble stairs, dance halls and empty dining rooms, meeting rooms, areas reserved exclusively for the members of the Club and an ideal bar to have breakfast or have some “tapas” for lunch or dinner enjoying the views of the Main Square.

CILLA DEL CABILDO COLEGIAL

Building of the 18th century with a magnificent facade. Property of the church, it remains closed to the public.

The Cilla del Cabildo Colegial was built by the architect Antonio Ruiz Florindo, it looks more like a court palace than an industrial building which was used as a barn where some tithes were paid to the Church.

The facade is framed by columns on bulbous pedestals and topped by a curvilinear cornice on which the Giralda is represented with Saint Justa and Saint Rufina between vases of lilies. The entablature carries an inscription which says: “Silla de la Santa Metropolitana Patriarcal Iglesia de Sevilla” and the year of its construction: 1773.
